Community, what a wonderful thing it is, yet we forget the power that it holds.
Matthew 18: 19-20
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
I think there is something that God wants to show us: people gathering together is uniquely different. The scripture above could have simply stated “when you come in my name”, but it doesn’t. It says “where two or three gather.” There is power in numbers. The context of this scripture shows how God will be present when people gather in His name.
What if we applied that to our lives? God is in our midst when we gather together, when we pray together, and when there’s unity that’s built. I think God intentionally designed us to be made for community. He knows we need one another. To lean on, to encourage one another, to help build each other, and to enjoy one another’s presence. The good of having community is endless. It’s God’s design for us to do life together. I believe it’s part of God’s nature to have relationship with one another. I strongly believe God puts people in our life not only encourage us , but to call out the things in our lives that we need to hear. God uses people for our own growth. In my own life, I have different ladies that I come to when I feel like life is messy and overwhelming. I'm honest on where I'm at and how I'm feeling with these ladies that God has placed in my life. The way they respond is not only by praying with me, but by declaring things in my life and calling out the things I need to hear. It helps me grow and puts me in the direction of following God even deeper than before. Relationships make us better!
I’m not saying we can’t do things on our own and have to rely on others to bring us joy, peace, and comfort. God is the source we go to for these things and anything else we may need in life. But we can bring others peace, because of the peace he instills within us. We can brighten someone’s day because we know who brightens ours.
I strongly believe without a shadow of a doubt, that one of the greatest gifts God gives us is relationships. Having special people to do life with is such a treasure. Having someone you can be completely open with, where they see your ugly, yet still love you despite of it. Having someone who celebrates you; for being you, and having someone to walk along side you in the journey of life. Because God is a God of relationship, he allows us to encounter these relationships with others and it’s a gift we get to enjoy.
Don’t shy away from relationships, authentic relationships- where you don’t need to pretend to be someone you’re not or wear a mask, but be yourself!
God wants us to enjoy the blessing of community, relationships, and unity- let’s partake in that, let us not runaway from it, but let’s start building it.
We need to uplift, encourage, empower, and strengthen one another.
We need to celebrate the highs in life with friends.
We need to be a listening ear and a wave of peace when a friend is in the valley.
We need to not put walls up and let them come down; transparency, rawness, and honesty need to be present.
We need to be aware of the power we hold when there is unity.
We need to know community is a beautiful thing and embrace it with all that we are!
Daughters of Day is built upon not just the idea of community, but the act of community. We want to encourage, strengthen, and do life with you ladies! We are here for you, to celebrate you, and to let you know, that you don’t have to do life alone!
